What the f*!% SIA!

Singapore Airlines is being ever so nice by selling return tickets at $60 to several cities such as Penang, Bangkok, Guangzhou and Perth among others. Its to celebrate their 60 years anniversary. Yeah…return tickets at $60…don’t play play ok. However, its only valid till the 24th of May this year. So, if you happen to at this very moment have enough money to go on a holiday at the very last minute, then go right ahead.

The sale is from 2 - 5th of May. The tickets would only be valid from 7th - 24th of May. Alamak, SIA, if you want to give…give long term lah. Don’t expect people to make last minute decisions to go on a holiday.

My missus and I would need to apply for leave…make plans with our parents on whether they can take care of our baby or not…see whether our leave would be approved (at such short notice…donno can or not)…budget for the holiday (the tickets may be cheap, but other things such as accomodation, food and other expenditures are not included in the $60)…plan for the trip itself (Where to go. Where to sleep in. What to eat. What to do). All these take time and money ok.
I’d probably jump at this offer if I’m single. No need to worry. Just get a bunch of friends and book the tickets and fly off. However, things are different when you have a family to think of. Maybe this offer is not for families. Waitaminute…I just realised that the timing is right smack in the middle of the SA1 exam period. Ok so we can forget about families then.
Anyway, I pretended to book 2 tickets to Perth and this is what I got:

2 return tickets: $120
Taxes and Fees: $574
Total Fare: $694.
Fees what fees? Last time I don’t have to pay for school fees cos I’m Malay. Now have to pay $574. What the f%!k SIA! My income tax also no need to pay until that much.

So all in all, I’d end up paying more than 10 times the amount that they put BIG BIG on their website. The taxes and fees in small small print.

What a great way to fly!
